The first phase of Teijin’s new carbon fiber facility in South Carolina is part of a $600 million planned investment to provide carbon fiber for automotive operations in the US. Phase 1 scope included a 185,000 square foot facility housing a carbon fiber line and an energy center for the overall site that supplies electricity, steam and gasses for the production facility.

O’Neal provided initial design to develop an appropriation level cost, schedule and project execution plan for the facility. O’Neal then provided detailed design, procurement and construction. Total project duration was 27 months from start of initial design activities to mechanical completion. The Phase 1 contract was valued at $200 million.
